Alion is crafted from carefully selected terroirs located in some of the finest areas of the Ribera del Duero DO. These complementary soils, combined with the same meticulous winemaking approach used at Vega Sicilia, result in wines with remarkable structure and depth.

The 2018 vintage was shaped by Atlantic-influenced weather, marked by higher-than-average rainfall, cooler temperatures, and a later harvest, which took place between 28 September and 12 October.

This was also the first year we used our new winemaking facility, operating tanks at half capacity to allow for greater precision during extraction. We increased the proportion of new oak to 80%, including 10% American oak, in pursuit of a richer and more expressive style.

Overall, the fresh, Atlantic character of the 2018 vintage lends this Alión a more vertical, elongated, and elegant profile.
