Chateau Loudenne is one of the older estates in the Medoc appellation in Bordeaux, located on gravelly hills above the estuary of the Gironde.
The vineyard lies on a terroir of gravel, clay and limestone soils, which helps drainage and ripening of the vines under the influence of the estuary. The estate notes the motto “There is no great vineyard which cannot see the river.”
For the 2020 vintage, this red wine reflects the estate’s aim of combining ripe fruit, structure and Medoc character. According to the technical information, the blend is similar to past vintages and uses primarily Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with possibly a small portion of Cabernet Franc.
