Chateau Pey de Pont is a historic estate in the Medoc appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. The estate is classed as a Cru Bourgeois and its vineyards benefit from a varied terroir of gravel-sandy and clay-limestone soils.
The 2020 vintage comes from a strong year for the region, and the wine benefits from traditional vinification: mechanical harvesting with sorting, temperature-controlled vats for vinification, and ageing for approximately 12 months (in barriques and vats) according to one source.
The estate is known for producing value-driven Medoc wines that combine approachable fruit with proper structure, owing to the vineyard age (some vines over 30 years) and thoughtful winemaking.
Deep ruby-red hue with good intensity
Expressive and complex, with ripe black fruits (blackberry, cassis), cocoa, sweet spices, toasted wood/vanilla from oak ageing, hints of tobacco and brioche.
The attack is fleshy and generous, the tannins are well-integrated and silky, the mid-palate shows layered fruit and oak interplay.
