Four Roses was named after the creator, Paul Jones Jr., who fell in love and proposed to a Southern beauty who promised to wear a corsage of roses on her gown the next time they met. When she arrived, she wore the corsage, and Jones called his bourbon Four Roses in her honour.
The aroma is pleasant and sharp. There are marmalade and citrus notes, cereal sweetness, a hint of toffee, and a beautiful caramel accent. The palate is pleasant and well-balanced. There are citrus and manuka honey flavours, cereal sweetness and winter spice, a hint of lemonade, and toasty oak. The finish is medium-length and has a nice oaken richness to it.
