The Balvenie is dedicated to the five rare crafts that are used to create The Balvenie’s distinctive taste. It is the only distillery that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both coppersmiths and coopers on site, making The Balvenie the most handcrafted of single malts. Each expression has a very individual taste, but is rich, luxuriously mooth and underpinned by the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie.

The Balvenie Distillery is built on stories. They are our lifeblood. In an industry where everything is codified, we don't write a huge amount down. Instead, we pass on what we know, from one person to the next, story by story.

Back when some of today’s distillery workers were still but loons and quines, David C Stewart was working on a new creation. It would become the world’s original cask-finished single malt Scotch whisky, the making of which involved maturing the liquid in one cask, before transferring it to finish maturating in another.

The Creation of a Classic, a sweet and syrupy expression of The Balvenie with a touch of vanilla oak and ginger spiciness, finished in sherry casks.
