Alion is made from a meticulous selection of terroirs located in the finest areas of the Ribera del Duero DO. These complementary soils, combined with the same winemaking techniques used at Vega Sicilia, consistently produce wines with notable structure and depth.

The 2019 vintage was drier than usual, a characteristic clearly reflected during grape tasting. The berries showed great concentration and powerful skins, resulting in a firm overall structure. To adapt to these conditions, we focused on careful extraction and reduced the fermentation vatting time to approximately 11 days. Some batches were gently refined prior to barreling, and we aimed to moderate the influence of oak and toast, which is especially important in this type of vintage. The inclusion of concrete also helped enhance the wine’s verticality and freshness.

Overall, 2019 delivered a vintage that is powerful, concentrated, and juicy, yet also possesses a sensual, silky, and richly textured side.
