Chateau Prieure de Beyzac is a smaller family-run estate of about 13.76 ha located in the appellation Haut‑Medoc on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, in the Medoc region, near the village of Vertheuil and just a few kilometres from the grand cru estate Chateau Calon Segur.
The vineyard sits on clay-limestone soils which are favourable to structured wines with freshness and minerality.
Its status as a Cru Bourgeois was confirmed in the 2020 classification of the Crus Bourgeois of the Medoc.
Deep ruby colour, medium to full intensity.
Fresh plums, spiced cherries and cassis (blackcurrant) dominate. There is a good fruit core, with subtle oak/spice touches.
The wine shows good balance — juicy fruit allied with firm tannins. Although the tannins are present, they are described as “coasting along with the juicy fruit” rather than aggressive. Finish is of medium length and fairly fresh.
